Malaysia Honeymoon Guide

Its fascinating mix of people and cultures, lush tropical scenery, pristine beaches and incredible wildlife make Malaysia a stunning honeymoon destination. Relax in one of the many romantic resorts, or get out and about and experience the natural wonders that make Malaysia such an exciting country.

Malaysia Beaches

Malaysia is blessed with many beautiful beaches, most of which can be found on the islands just off the coast of the mainland. To the East, the two unspoilt islands of Tioman and Redang can be found, both offer stunning beachfront resorts and world class snorkelling in the nearby marine park.

Over on the west coast of Malaysia, the popular island resorts of Langkawi and Penang offer award winning beaches and excellent entertainment, shopping and cultural experiences. Amongst the other of Malaysia’s best beaches are the pristine shores of Pangkor Island, this hidden gem is just a few hours drive from Kuala Lumpur and plays host to one of the most exclusive resorts in the world, the Pangkor Laut.

Peninsula Malaysia

Stretching from the Thai border in the North to Singapore in the South, the Peninsular of Malaysia boasts a diverse array of scenery and attractions. At the heart of the east coast lies Terengganu, this coastal town draws its visitors in with its quiet golden beaches, traditional Malay culture and slow pace of life; it’s the perfect place to relax and unwind.

To the West of the Peninsula are the cooler climes of the Cameron Highlands, a former hill station offering fresh air, romantic forest walks and British style cream teas. The nearby Taman Negara is the country’s largest national park; full of wildlife and tropical flora it can add a touch of adventure to any honeymoon. To the south of the Peninsula lies Malacca, this heritage town has been well preserved and gives a fantastic glimpse in to the history and culture of the country.

Borneo's Wildlife

The beautiful island of Borneo lies off the coast of Peninsula Malaysia and is home to many unique and endangered species of wildlife. Amongst the most well known are the Proboscis Monkey, the Borneo Rhino, Pygmy Elephants, the Rhinoceros Hornbill, Green and Hawksbill Turtles, but the islands most famous inhabitant has to be the Orang-utan. Home to one of only four Orang-utan sanctuaries in the world, any visit to Borneo wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Sepilok Orang-utan sanctuary where you’ll catch a glimpse of these playful primates in their own environment.

Borneo’s dramatic landscape, a mixture of deep green jungle, rugged mountains and stunningly beautiful ocean, all come together to create one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places on earth. Borneo has become a popular honeymoon destination over the years, offering visitors a great mixture of adventure, wildlife and relaxation. Many of the popular beach resorts are located around the largest city, Kota Kinabalu, but other towns such as Kuching and Sandakan are great starting points for a Borneo adventure.

Kuala Lumpur

A wonderful architectural mix of towering skyscrapers, old colonial buildings and brightly decorated temples and mosques, the nation’s capital can be a fun place to spend a few days before you move on to one of Malaysia’s relaxing beach resorts. This great city provides a whole host of attractions for its visitors, from the imposing sight of the iconic Petronas Towers, to the famous Batu Caves where nearly 300 steps lead up to the top of a limestone cavern, which is home to a Hindu Shrine.
